The focus of the assessment is the design quality and the responsible use of resources. The latter plays a central role at Porzellangasse 47: Instead of new construction, an existing office building from 1998 was preserved and converted into a modern residential building with 24 units and a commercial area on the ground floor. This resource-saving approach not only reduces the CO₂ footprint, but also avoids unnecessary waste production – a significant contribution to greater sustainability, especially in urban areas.
The project, planned by the architectural firm GERNER GERNER PLUS, shows how targeted repurposing and design fine-tuning allow existing structures to be meaningfully preserved and further developed. We are delighted about the recognition and thank all those involved in the project for their commitment and vision!
