Why is it called Benedikt?
The Schottenfeld part of the district once belonged entirely to the Benedictine abbey "Unsere Liebe Frau zu den Schotten" - today's Schottenstift. It was soon used exclusively as arable land. Due to financial difficulties, the Schottenstift was forced to subdivide and sell its grounds at the beginning of the 18th century.
The fields were generously cultivated, settled and raised to the status of a suburb. To this day, a Benedictine monk adorns the coat of arms of the Schottenfeld district on the Schottenäckern. That’s how Benedict gave this house its name.
